A Discovery Flight is the perfect way for new students to begin their flight training! This first lesson offers an introduction to the fundamentals of flying. Students will receive a ground lesson and flight time under the supervision of a certified flight instructor. As their first lesson, students will be able to log this time as their first flight hours!
*This is not a sightseeing or air tour flight
1. Preflight Inspection
Check the aircraft for airworthiness, including fuel, oil, controls, and structure.
2. Certificates & Documents
Ensure all required pilot and aircraft documents are onboard and current.
3. Engine Starting
Follow checklist to safely start the engine and monitor instruments.
4. Positive Exchange of Flight Controls
Use clear verbal cues to confirm who has control of the aircraft.
5. Straight & Level Flight
Maintain constant altitude and heading using coordinated controls.
6. Climbs, Descents, and Level Offs
Change altitude smoothly with correct pitch and power, then level off.
7. Normal Takeoff & Landing
Perform standard takeoff and landing using proper speed and alignment.
8. After Landing
Complete checklist, configure aircraft, and taxi safely.
9. Parking & Securing
Shut down engine, set brakes, and secure the aircraft.
